EVENTS: GPP2ADRION at the 11th EUSAIR Annual Forum: Promoting Green Public Procurement for a Circular Adriatic–Ionian Region

The thematic session “Green Public Procurement Driving Circular Economy in the Adriatic–Ionian Region”, held on 19 May 2026 as part of the 11th EUSAIR Annual Forum in Skopje, brought together representatives from European institutions, EUSAIR governance bodies, ADRION stakeholders, and GPP2ADRION project partners to explore the strategic role of Green Public Procurement (GPP) in supporting the transition towards a more circular and sustainable economy.

The session provided a valuable platform for dialogue on the latest European policy developments related to Green Public Procurement, the Circular Economy, and the Digital Product Passport, while also highlighting experiences and good practices emerging from the Adriatic–Ionian region. Particular attention was given to the GPP2ADRION project’s capacity-building activities, including the development of the GPP Ambassadors network and the Local Contact Points framework, as well as the importance of strengthening transnational cooperation to ensure long-term impact.

Throughout the discussion, speakers and participants underlined the need for stronger collaboration among institutions, public authorities, and regional stakeholders. The exchange of experiences confirmed that effective implementation of Green Public Procurement relies on practical solutions, bottom-up engagement, and coordinated action across borders.

The session also showcased the progress achieved by GPP2ADRION in promoting sustainable public procurement practices throughout the ADRION area, demonstrating how the project’s tools and governance structures are helping public administrations build capacity, raise awareness, and integrate environmental criteria into procurement processes.
